![]() ![]() It appears that not only did the first and second set of jets rust out after liberally applying canola oil no less than once/monthly, but that the ledge in the back on which the gas jets sat, had holes which the rust had enlarged to 4" each. We tried to follow all suggestions from the distributor but to no avail. Each cover only lasted about 12 months before it would deteriorate and disintegrate. We would let the grill dry, if it had rained, before covering it with 1 of 2 covers given to us by the distributor. The grill was on an outdoor porch protected from the wind and rain on 3 sides. ![]() ( It appears that the powder coating process in the Chinese factory making the grill must have completely missed covering these areas- as the ledge on which the third jet on the left side had never had any rust. We also had large rust cracks on the back side ledge where the Right side and Middle gas jets sat. Read more open due to rust and no amount of Canola oil prevented or slowed down the rust. We used WD 40 on some parts - the ledge in the back, and Canola Oil on most other parts, including 3 new gas jets which the distributor provided to us free when we returned the initial 3 jets after 14 months of use. We followed all manufacturer recommendations and the HK Distributor's recommendations for cleaning out the rust, and protecting the parts most susceptible to rust. We bought the 900 series in January 2013.
